As part of Ġemma’s ongoing efforts to empower young minds, Financial Literacy Sessions were delivered in 28 state schools across Malta to children attending Klabb 3–16. These sessions are designed to build early awareness and understanding of money in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
Students were grouped into two age categories: 7–8 and 9–11. Each group participated in three interactive sessions tailored to their level. Through these, they explored the basics of money management, including how to budget wisely, save effectively, and make thoughtful spending choices. The sessions also introduced fundamental concepts in personal finance, such as distinguishing between needs and wants, and familiarised students with key business terms and ideas.
As part of the learning journey, students were encouraged to explore the foundations of entrepreneurship, gaining insight into what it takes to start and run a small business. They were guided through basic steps designed to nurture creativity, initiative, and responsibility.
A significant component of the programme also focused on evaluating advertising, promoting honesty in financial decision-making, and understanding the importance of philanthropy.
At the end of the programme, each student received a certificate of completion. We are pleased to report that during the 2024–2025 scholastic year, 293 students proudly earned this recognition, a true reflection of their enthusiasm and growing financial confidence.
Ġemma’s work doesn’t end here on the contrary, it continues. Financial literacy sessions will soon start at Skola Sajf, expanding Ġemma’s reach and helping even more young learners gain the skills and mindset needed to make smart money decisions for life.
