This national research study carried out with Maltese residents aged between 18-79 years, formed part of an international study of adult financial literacy, led by OECD’s International Network on Financial Education (INFE) arm amongst 37 countries in 2023.
Malta participated in the 2018 and 2023 OECD/INFE international surveys of adult financial literacy. In this Report, the salient Malta 2023 findings on ‘adult financial literacy’ will be presented, together with some highlights on the marked comparative differences between Malta’s two studies (held in 2023 & 2018).
OECD/INFE defines ‘financial literacy’ as “A combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude and behaviour necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual financial wellbeing.”
