Under the European Social Fund project titled ‘Knowledge, Training, Communications and Support Measures in Support of Vulnerable Groups’ (ESF2.63) the Malta Council for the Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) partnered with the Retirement and Financial Capability Group (RFCG), within the Ministry for the Family, Children’s Rights, and Social Solidarity to design and launch a training programme, accredited as a level 3 qualification, titled
The programme is designed as a ‘tool kit’ aimed at trainers and facing officers of vulnerable groups. This tool kit will help staff and personnel be more equipped and able to tackle everyday money related problems they might encounter with vulnerable people. The main purpose of this programme is to train the trainer with respect to various retirement and money management aspects available for vulnerable groups.
Upon completion of this programme the leaner will be in a better place to provide advice and recommendations to their clients on how to plan and budget, manage their money, think about their future and plan for it.
- The programme helps practitioners in Malta become more aware of the tools they have at their disposal to better meet the needs of the vulnerable.
- The programme aims to provide trainers will a holistic tools kit which aims to better their relationship with vulnerable groups and providing a better service.
This programme is based on two units:
(a) Managing Money, and
(b) Investment and Personal Financial Planning.
Both units cover various tools and methodologies that have been adopted, by various practitioners, to aid financial literacy, and more importantly, financial capability amongst vulnerable groups. The two units will delve into details of how a financial plan is set up and being able to work with limited funds, banking services which vulnerable groups can benefit from along with benefits that vulnerable groups can make use of amongst many others.
