ĠEMMA’s Video Series on Budgeting – Tipprepara għat-tieġ
This is the seventh video we produced with the Central Bank of Malta in our budgeting series.
My niece, Kylie is getting married five months or so. All I have been hearing from Maria, my wife, and Angele, my daughter, is my niece’s wedding preparations.
Pa – do you know Kylie was telling us that they will be inviting 800 persons to the wedding: they simply want everybody there and Uncle Mike wants all his business associates there. Pa – you know where they are going to holding the wedding – they are going to rent that private palace in Mdina: it is ssiiiimmmmpppppppllllllllly beautiful.
Maria, my wife, told me that Kylie and her husband had decided to go to Thailand, India and Australia for their honey moon … and that they will be spending two months. And only the other day Maria was telling me that she wants to have three bands present at the wedding – that latest popular band for her and her age group, the popular 70s musician, his name escapes me bhal-issa, for all of us, and that popular duet on the violin and the piano. The idea is to make sure there is music for everybody.
I just listen and zip up. Nevertheless I cannot help saying to myself that this wedding is going to cost a bomba – how are they going to afford it? How long is it going to take them to pay off all of those bills? Surely do you need to go to the other side of the world to have a lovely honeymoon? And truly, that gown and all those bride girls and boys …
